So here’s an acoustic cover that has been in the works for quite a while. I recorded it around early/mid-2007 and finally found Jon IX to sing it. We were planning on doing a bunch of select songs from Drowning Pool’s first album, but it sort of fell through. Anyway, here’s “Sinner” featuring Jon IX on vocals.
1.) Sinner [Drowning Pool Cover] / 2:45 / 5mb

I found an old file that I was messing around with earlier today and edited it up a bit to experiment with vocal effects. It’s a short version of “Hear You Me” by Jimmy Eat World- just the first verse and chorus. It’s composed entirely of vocal recordings with effects placed on them. I think it turned out pretty well.
1.) Hear You Me [Jimmy Eat World Cover] / 1:13 / 1.4mb

After listening to the original for the hundreth time, I thought it would be awesome to cover this song. The solo is so fun to play. I was experimenting to see what my new guitar would sound like using a direct input instead of mic’ing the sound hole. I’m probably going to stick with the microphone, but I’m still really pleased with the sound quality.

I recorded the acoustic guitar part last semester in Oswego, and Katie and I finally put some vocals on top of it. It turned out pretty well I think. It was fun doing the harmonizations and everything.

I started this one before I had the right kind of adapter for my new Mbox 2, so this was recorded with my new SM57, but not with ProTools. The vocals are not great, but the overall song turned out alright. This song (well a “dirty” version of it) will be featured on the next Musician’s Lounge Rockstar where the theme was making sexually explicit songs.
1.) Stacy’s Mom [Fountains of Wayne Cover] / 3:27 / 3.2mb

I just finished setting up my brand new SM57, Mbox 2 and Pro Tools! This is my first venture into the new interface and so the song is a little choppy at parts, but I’m learning. This is a straight acoustic cover of “Buried Myself Alive” by The Used. I really love the chorus in that song. I sang it myself and the levels on the vocals may be a little loud, but this is just a quick practice song. I’ll have more coming pretty soon.
1.) Buried Myself Alive [The Used Cover] / 3:37 / 3.3mb

This image is a narrative; a who-dunnit. I’ve also personified the characters without needing to use facial features or other human elements which I think is pretty nifty.

The was originally a two-page spread for The Oswegonian (it is featured on the centerfold- pages 12-13, in the March 7, 2008 issue), but I recreated it as a promo poster for the show.

I covered the version that Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria made of “Your Love” by The Outfield. I really like the way he made it into a whispered, sullen acoustic song. This song will end up on the next Musician’s Lounge Rockstar, as well as on this years ML Valentine’s Day compilation.
1.) Your Love [The Outfield Cover] / 4:34 / 4.2mb

This is from a project that I started that is most likely not going to be finished. I was going to cover about five songs off the album, but things ended up grinding to a halt. This is my favorite song from the album, so it’s the only one that was completely finished. The acoustic cover is sort of an experimentation because I detuned my guitar to dropped C# just to see how it sounded. I also did a techno version that is pretty basic, but it was fun to make. I couldn’t decide if I wanted vocals on it, or just the instrument, but since I did vocals for the acoustic version, I chose not to for the remix.
1.) Tear Away [Drowning Pool Cover] / 4:15 / 6.2mb
2.) Tear Away [Drowning Pool Remix] / 3:57 / 5.8mb

I’ve wanted to learn and record this song since the summer of 2004, but I never had the means. I put my own little spin on this song- it’s sort of a dreamy acoustic version of the song. I’ve been playing around with instrument patches for my vocals, and finally found one where I don’t immediately cringe when I hear my voice singing, so expect to hear more of my vocals with that sort of ’space reverb’.
1.) Blue [A Perfect Circle Cover] / 4:16 / 5.9mb

After a night at the Shed, I decided to record the chorus of this monumental song. Mike DiGenova and Pat joined me. We did two versions- the first is a straight cover of it, and the second is a sort of ‘bar-room cover’ where we took it slower and adding some feel good clapping.
1.) That’s the Way it Is (Chorus) [Celine Dion Cover] / 0:43 / 1mb (Version 1)
2.) That’s the Way it Is (Chorus) [Celine Dion Cover] / 0:42 / 1mb (Version 2)

This is my entry for Musician’s Lounge Rockstar XXIV. It’s a hard rock version of Castle on a Cloud, and I sang it myself. It was a bit out of my (pretty narrow) range, but I really like the way it turned out.

Jon Boo and I recorded this one as just two takes without any multi-tracking. Jon is on guitar and singing, and I’m on guitar.

Here’s my submission for the next Musician’s Lounge Rockstar. The theme this time is the 90s, so I chose “All My Life” by K-Ci and JoJo.

While everyone is waiting for Mike Galfas to finish the “official” vocals in our acoustic tribute to Armor for Sleep’s sophomore album “What to Do When You Are Dead,” I recorded vocals myself for a b-side to the acoustic tribute. My vocals are lower quality both due to not mastering them and the fact that I’m a pretty bad singer. Hopefully it’ll allow you to get a feel for what the songs will sound like when they are completely done. Keep checking out the official website and our Myspace profile for more updates.

This was Mike Digenova’s idea, and it will soon be followed up by a hilarious music video that is half-parody of Extreme’s video, and half-just goofing around. This song features Mike on the lead vocals, as well as Pat Blakley, Tony Prutisto, and I on backing vocals. Please keep in mind that this is mostly a joke song.

Yeah, that’s right. I covered the guy that made the song “Weeeeee!” This song is surprisingly well written and is hilarious to boot. I’m really happy with the way this one turned out, and I’ve been playing it all day now.

This song is for the Musician’s Lounge Rockstar 22: The 80s. Each song has to have been in a top ten chart sometime in the 80s. I decided to do it in a folk-ish style. Lots of fun to make because I’ve loved this song since I first heard it.
1.) Word Up [Cameo Cover] / 3:14 / 4.5mb
